ARK Rhyniognatha (Controls, Location, Taming, Abilities & Uses)

How to tame the Rhyniognatha:

The Rhyniognatha cannot be directly tamed. Instead, you need to force it to lay an egg in one of your tamed creatures. To do this, kill a Rhyniognatha to obtain a Rhyniognatha Pheromone, which can be consumed by your tames. Feed the Rhyniognatha Pheromone to a female Rhyniognatha that has been reduced to around 10% health. The female Rhyniognatha will lay an egg in your tamed creature. Nurture the egg until it hatches, resulting in a Juvenile Rhyniognatha.

Feeding:

Rhyniognatha is omnivorous and consumes both meat and berries, although it is more beneficial to feed it meat for healing.

Rhyniognatha Saddle:

Unlock the Rhyniognatha Saddle engram to craft and ride the creature. Crafting resources: 30 Crystal, 200 Fiber, 150 Hide, 150 Metal Ingot, 60 Polymer.

Ryniognatha Breeding:

The Rhyniognatha cannot be bred or cloned. Obtain a Juvenile Rhyniognatha through the taming process.

WHat the Ryniognatha Drops:

Resources harvested from a Rhyniognatha’s body include Raw Meat, Chitin, and Rhyniognatha Pheromone.

Where to find the Ryniognatha in Ark:

Rhyniognatha primarily inhabits swamp biomes and can be found on The Island and The Center maps. They frequently fly around and attack other creatures, regardless of size. On The Island, search around the swamp near the Redwood Area. On The Center, they are typically found in the middle where a ring of waterfalls encloses the swamp biome.

Rhyniognatha Abilities :

Resin Armor:

The Rhyniognatha covers itself with Resin Armor, reducing damage taken from hostiles as long as it has Resin in its inventory. This provides protection during combat and simplifies direct confrontation. The ability consumes 1 Resin every 30 seconds while active.

Controls:

  • PC: CTRL+C
  • Xbox: RB+R
  • PS4: R1+R

Taunt:

Activating this ability causes the Rhyniognatha to emit a terrifying screech, causing even the largest creatures to flee. Use this ability to disperse enemies, disrupt their control over tamed creatures, or instill fear in wild creatures. The ability can only be used while the Rhyniognatha is on the ground and has a 30-second cooldown.

Controls:

  • PC: C
  • Xbox: RS
  • PS4: RS

Carry Creature/Player:

The Rhyniognatha can transport both players and creatures at high speed, even capable of carrying a T-rex. Use this ability to move farming dinos, abduct enemy dinos, or relocate structures like vaults.

Controls:

  • PC: CTR+RMB/MMB
  • Xbox: RB+RT
  • PS4: R1+R2

Fire Resin:

While mounted, the Rhyniognatha can project various projectiles, which can be toggled. Choose between Resin Needles, Rockets, and Bombs, each with unique effects on their targets.

Resin Needles deal damage, Resin Rockets slow enemies and apply a Resin Debuff, and Resin Bombs create Resin Goo on the ground.

Controls:

  • PC: RMB
  • Xbox: LT
  • PS4: L2
  • Cycle through different fire modes by holding Reload or pressing the melee+aim buttons/keys.

Produce Resin:

When the Rhyniognatha has Sap in its inventory, it converts 1 Sap into 1 Resin every 5 seconds, replenishing its stock. This is essential for maintaining ammunition and keeping Resin Armor active for extended periods.

Skim Water/Dive:

Similar to other invertebrates, the Rhyniognatha can skim over water surfaces and even dive beneath them. This versatility makes it an excellent mount for various situations. Skim on the water by landing on it or dive by flying straight into the water, then fly out afterward.

Uses of the Rhyniognatha:

Assault:

The Rhyniognatha excels at long-range attacks with its projectiles, dealing substantial damage to enemies at different distances.

Scout:

With its swift flying capabilities, the Rhyniognatha serves as an effective scout for locating enemy bases or discovering resources.

Escort:

With its offensive abilities, the Rhyniognatha makes an excellent aerial escort, providing protection for both air and ground creatures.

### Transport:

With considerable carrying capacity, the Rhyniognatha can transport resources and creatures, including large ones like a Rex or Diplo.

Crowd Control:

The Rhyniognatha’s Resin projectiles can slow and immobilize enemies, granting you an advantage in combat.
