ARK Survival Ascended Reveals the Tidepup
Studio Wildcard has officially unveiled the Tidepup, one of the newest creatures coming to ARK Survival Ascended with Bob’s True Tales: Tides of Fortune when Genesis Ascended Part 1 launches on June 25.
Unlike many of the aggressive creatures roaming the ARKs, the Tidepup is designed as a supportive companion focused on healing and survivability.
What is the Tidepup?
The Tidepup, scientifically known as Axolotl medicaemicus, is a benevolent amphibious creature that naturally heals injured creatures and survivors. According to its dossier, even hostile predators seem to recognize the Tidepup’s peaceful nature and avoid attacking it.
Players can tame the Tidepup by bringing injured tames to it and allowing the creature to heal them. Repeating this process gradually builds trust until the Tidepup bonds with the player.
Tidepup Abilities
Once tamed, the Tidepup offers several powerful support abilities:
- Heals players and nearby allies
- Removes toxins and negative status effects
- Functions as a shoulder pet
- Allows players to equip a second shoulder pet simultaneously
- Can retreat into a protective dormant state when critically injured
One of its most unique features is its transformation ability. After bonding with its owner, the Tidepup can evolve into a much larger amphibious mount capable of healing multiple nearby allies at once.
A Different Kind of Creature
The Tidepup stands out from traditional ARK creatures by focusing entirely on support and utility rather than combat. For PvE players, tribe support roles, and survivability-focused gameplay, this could become one of the most useful companions added to ARK Survival Ascended so far.
With creatures like the Burrowbuck and Araneo being added this week already shaking up gameplay, the Tidepup adds another major layer to the evolving Genesis Ascended ecosystem.
